Boathouse, Hendry's Beach

by JR

It's right on the beach!

It's right on the beach!

It's right on the beach! The BEST happy hour in town!

My favorite burger is the Kobe "happy hour" burger at the Boathouse.

Delia's Reply: You're right, JR. The Boathouse has one of the best happy hours in Santa Barbara. And the view can't be beat!

In addition to the Kobe Cheeseburger, delicious happy hour food includes:
  • Fried Calamari
  • Pulled-Pork Sliders with Gouda
  • Beer-Steamed Clams
  • Seared Ahi Tuna
  • New England Clam Chowder with salad
Each for just $6.95!

Draft beer costs $3.00, house wine costs $4.00, and well drinks, margaritas and call wine is just $5.00.

Sunday through Thursday, happy hour runs from 3-6 pm AND 8 pm - closing! Friday, it's just 8 pm - closing and Saturday there is no happy hour.

Happy hour is crowded and lively. This is miles from tourist central and a real locals' favorite kind of place.

You don't have to wait for happy hour, though. The Boathouse opens at 7:30 am for breakfast and serves delicious, high-quality food all day long.

It can be crowded, especially during happy hour. Reservations are recommended - call 805-898-2628.

You'll find the Boathouse at 2981 1/2 Cliff Drive (map it) at Arroyo Burro (a.k.a. Hendry's) Beach. It's definitely worth the trip!

there every weekend to eat and walk the beach
by: Myra

Yep, that or this is the only place to go, you have the ocean on one side and the cliff on the other side, going up the beach with the water on the left and the cliff to the right and you know some of the most expensive places are at the top, and you can walk all the way up the beach (low tide) to University. Because I have done that at high tide, crawling over the holders and dodging the water. It was wonderful. I wish I still lived there. I could use a good meal at The Beach at the Bird Restaurant, I am not sure I ever knew the name, just where it was. I really miss the beach and the sun, living in Seattle now, never see the sun and it rains all the time. Oh, how I wish I still lived in Santa Barbara, CA.

The Brown Pelican
by: Anonymous

Delia's Note: - This reader is talking about The Brown Pelican, which closed at this location in December 2007.

New management renovated the building, refined the menu and re-opened as the Boathouse.

The (something) Pelican

I cannot remember the name of the place but it is RIGHT ON THE BEACH and it does not get anymore beautiful!

What is it called again?

You must find it if you are going to Santa Barbara... It is a day to remember. Bring your towel, you won't want to leave.

Hendry's beach is the most beautiful beach in California, I think, with waves crashing, not like at the marina! And dog-friendly, too.

Best Happy Hour in Town
by: Parma Chris

New Winter happy hour hours
3-close Sun-Thurs / 8-Close on Fri

One of the greatest Deals on Great Food. The location is just steps away from the ocean. Great, friendly, fast service. For the prices, you can't beat this Happy Hour.

LOVE THIS PLACE!
