As always, hotel quality and value varies greatly. I've done all the research for you and evaluated guest reviews from several websites. Here are my personal recommendations for general hotels in Goleta CA, in several categories from best to worst:
Get away from it all at this luxury spa resort on gorgeous beachfront property. Stay here only if money is no object. It's very expensive. Valet parking is not included in the room rates. Expect to pay $30 per night for parking!
Some guests feel Bacara's customer service is substandard and not a good value. One guest said the Bacara felt more like an all-inclusive vacation instead of an exclusive resort. But most Bacara guests have a great experience and feel their stay was definitely worth the money. Read more about Bacara...
This is my Top pick for every-day hotels in Goleta, CA. Brand New! Opened August 2012. Marriott quality and some say pricey. Closest hotel to UCSB. Stay here for Girsch Park events. New ice skating rink next door. Great location. Excellent in every way. Book your reservation.
Large clean rooms, very quiet. Continental breakfast. Lots of amenities. Convenient access to freeways. Very near UCSB & Goleta Beach. Well maintained. Guests have nothing but compliments. A good value.
More upscale than the rest of the neighborhood, but still in a safe area. Sign up as a Hilton Honor's member to earn points and receive perks! This is a great choice for a hotel in Goleta. Make your reservations here.
An excellent all-suites hotel. Beautiful grounds. Pet friendly. Comfortable beds. Free wifi is spotty. No elevators. Quietest rooms are the ones overlooking the pool & courtyard. Full suite for the price of a single room! Reasonably priced!
Meeting facility is a completely restored 1880s Victorian home. Great for large groups, families and business meetings. There's a free made-to-order breakfast, so the restaurant is crowded in the mornings.
Recent guests love this place. Ask for the special "UCSB" rate. Definitely recommended. Reserve your room here.
Wow! In addition to a free airport shuttle, they offer a complimentary shuttle to & from UCSB every 30 minutes until 10 pm. Complimentary breakfast. Beautiful grounds & friendly staff. One of the most affordable 3-star hotels in the Santa Barbara area.
Clean & fresh feeling. Within walking distance of grocery stores & restaurants. Nice neighborhood with easy access to Highway 101. A good value for the price. Ask for a renovated room. Get a room that faces the pool. Truly a HIDDEN GEM! Reserve your room here.
PROS: Free Continental Breakfast is good. Free Wifi. Beautiful setting. Plenty of parking. Free airport shuttle. Easy access to 101. Near In-n-Out, IHOP. Ask about special packages for Whale watching and wine tasting.
CONS: A few dissatisfied guest comments include: "Older & dated." "Noisy & smelly." "A minor renovation would work wonders."
Management is extremely responsive to guest complaints. Many guests love the Ramada. If you have a look at your room before agreeing to stay, this place is definitely worth a try. Reserve your room.
Recently renovated all-suites hotel. Bad reviews are pre-renovation. Across the street from In-N-Out Burgers & International House Of Pancakes. Easy freeway access.
Clean & comfy. Reasonable rates. Plenty of free parking. Pet friendly. No pool or fitness center. All suites include a kitchen. Grocery store is south of Highway 101 on Turnpike. Recent guests are very happy with this hotel. Book your suite.
Motel-style, as in no common hallway. Friendly staff. Grounds are well maintained. Pool, fire pit, free wifi, laundry, free airport shuttle, but no refrigerators in rooms. There's an on-site restaurant, but better restaurants, shopping and movie theaters are just down the street.
About half of its guests have described this hotel as "worn & dated"/"old & tired". For a 50% chance of being pleasantly surprised, book your room here.
Basic lodging. No frills. OK for a short stay. Pet friendly. Within walking distance of many restaurants, grocery stores and other shopping. Bowling alley next door is popular with college students. Can be noisy from freeway and party-goers.
Rooms are recently remodeled and clean. Bring your own shampoo. Ask for a hair dryer if you need one. Wifi is slow and costs extra. This is a clean, safe, friendly place at a rock-bottom price. Check availability.
Very basic, nothing fancy. Free wifi. Pool. Located on a busy intersection in an industrial area near Santa Barbara Airport. Adequate lodging for the budget traveler.
Personally, I'm not crazy about this neighborhood. For a comparable room in a better location, I'd recommend Motel 6, above. But some guests really like staying here. So, you be the judge. Check room availability anyway.
Civilized beach camping on 300 coastal acres in Southern California. Whether you love it or hate it depends on what you expect.
Do not expect "luxury". Whether sleeping in canvas tents with feather beds or full-featured cabins, you ARE camping. There are bugs & mice around. It's a great experience, but not if you don't like camping.
You can't see the ocean from the campgrounds, but the beach is only 30-minutes away on foot. This is a great place for a family vacation, reunion or group event. Plenty of activity for everyone. Uniquely romantic, too.
Canyon Market & Kitchen serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. If you like the idea of camping with conveniences, you'll love staying here. Some guests consider the rates a little pricey, though. Make your reservations here.
★★ - Read reviews.
Nothing but rave reviews for this family summer camp at UCSB. This all-inclusive vacation includes lodging, meals, daily housekeeping service and most importantly, daycare!
Your kids will have the time of their lives so you can, too! Age-appropriate activities are supervised by camp counselors who keep your kids safe and happily occupied all day long.
You'll be able to have your own vacation, without worrying about the kids. Go hiking, wine-tasting, surfing or sight-seeing. You'll have built-in baby-sitters all week.
Room and board is provided in the dorm rooms and a cafeteria on UCSB's campus, so don't expect luxury. But private apartment-style suites have a large living room, bathroom, internet access and a small refrigerator.
The cafeteria is adjacent, as is a heated pool. The entire area is beautifully landscaped, with paths for biking, running or walking along the beach.
Expect additional expenses. You'll be charged for a "Bed Upgrade" if you don't want to sleep in a twin bed on your vacation. Also some activities are included, but many cost extra. Discounts are available for UC Alumni.
Many families come here year after year and it's always everyone's favorite vacation. Reservation information.
