This campground stays full almost all summer. So it can be difficult to get a campsite.

Jalama Beach is so remote there’s no cell phone service. It’s about an hours drive from Santa Barbara and 45 minutes from Lompoc. Click this link for driving directions to Jalama Beach County Park.

A trip to Jalama Beach for lunch is a favorite day trip for Santa Barbara County locals.
The Jalama Beach Store & Grill is home of the World Famous Jalama Burger®. The Grill has a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Jalama is a well-known surf spot. Windsurfers and kiteboarders love Jalama Beach, too. This California beach campground has become a top destination for windsurfing events. It’s very windy here almost every day.
Jalama Beach is a good place to watch missile launches from Vandenberg Air Force Base. Check the Vandenberg AFB home page for their launch schedule, or call Vandenberg’s Straight Talk Line at 805-606-8263 for more info.
Jalama Creek is a perfect place to explore tidepools for starfish and sea anemones.
Bring a kayak and try kayak surfing or kayak fishing. You’ll need a sport fishing license if you decide to go fishing.
There’s a playground for the kids and a horseshoe pit if you’re interested in playing.
Jalama Beach is a pristine habitat for all types of marine wildlife. You’ll probably see dolphins or whales swimming just off-shore. Sea lions are likely to be sunning themselves along the coastline.

WARNING: Access to Point Conception is restricted. You WILL BE TRESPASSING on PRIVATE PROPERTY if you go all the way to the lighthouse, as the visitors in this video did. This area is patrolled and trespassing citations are issued.
Visitors are allowed to hike south ALONG THE BEACH only. Do not go inland up the cliff to the lighthouse. Please respect the property rights of others.

Jalama Beach County Park maintains 98 individual campsites in California, 2 group campsites and 7 cabins. Twenty nine of these campsites offer water & electrical RV hookups. There’s a dump station for RVs, too.

Jalama Beach Store & Grill brings a touch of luxury to this remote wilderness. You don’t have to cook unless you want to. And the store can provide everything you forgot; from camping & fishing supplies to beer & wine.
You can even rent a video, mail a postcard, or fax a message at the Store. The Store & Grill is open daily from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM in the winter and until 7:00 PM in the summer.
Check-in time is 3:00 PM.
Check-out time for cabin dwellers is 11:00 AM.
Check-out time for tents, trailers and RVs is 2:00 PM.
Quiet hours: 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM
Dogs must have proof of rabies vaccination.
Dogs are required to be on-leash at all times.
Soon, you will be able to make your Jalama Beach camping reservations online. Currently, the website only allows you to check campsite availability.
There are two group campsites for Jalama Beach camping. Each holds a maximum of 8 vehicles; RVs count as 2 vehicles. Group campsites cost $200 per night.
Abalone Point (formerly Area C) is right on the beach. This area has 5 picnic tables, a fire ring and BBQ.

Starfish Cove (formerly Area D) is the largest group site. This area has 7 picnic tables, 2 prep tables, a sink and 2 30-amp RV hookups.

There are seven new cabins for Jalama Beach camping located on former campsites 98-104. Tents are not allowed in the cabin area.
Jalama’s new vacation rental cabins provide all the luxuries of home. One cabin is even wheelchair-friendly with wider doors and a wheelchair-accessible shower.
