“We’ll Leave The Lights On For You.”

In 1986, Tom Bodett became the voice of Motel Six. He is the first and only spokesperson Motel 6 has ever had.

Tom ad libbed “We’ll leave the lights on for you,” in his very first recording session. And the tag line stuck…

…making this ad campaign one of the most successful and longest running in history.

“You get nothing you don’t need at Motel Six.” Click on the “Play” symbol to hear Tom explain:

Motel Six has become a cultural icon over the years and now enjoys the highest brand recognition of any economy lodging.

A Modern New Look

Over the last five years, Motel Six has spent millions remodeling their rooms with a fresh, new look.

In 2008, Motel Six introduced the first new prototype in 12 years. The new Phoenix design symbolizes the reinvention of Motel Six.

Newly remodeled rooms feature:

Luggage stows under the pedestal bed. Note the easy-to-clean, recycled wood-look flooring.

New granite bathroom counter top with raised sink and towel cubby.

Dual-function entertainment unit includes a 32-inch flat-screen TV, a multi-media port for electronics, a cubby for personal use, and a door-less wardrobe.

Settee for two with ambient lighting

Phoenix is an environmentally friendly design, too.

  • The wood-look flooring is made from recycled materials.
  • Low-flow toilets and aerators in the sinks and showers help conserve water.
  • Fluorescent bulbs and LED lighting conserve electricity.

The sleek new design recently won the 2010 Travel + Leisure Design Award for Best Large Hotel.
